An arrangement of origami flowers is displayed in a modernist style vase. Both bouquet and vessel are made from unexpected materials. Instead of origami paper, the flowers are made from the pages of Chinese erotic magazines to give glimpses of women’s faces and naked bodies appear between the petals. The vase, meanwhile, is sculpted from cinderblock. Between these elements are contrasting associations to sexuality, natural and artificial beauty and gendered materials that resonate between distinct cultures and attitudes.
