2007

The solo show Happy Next Year presents a number of works that played with desires for escape. A two screen video conflates the romantic lights from a neon and a real paradise; a highway made of cinderblocks is filled with paper models of Porsche cars all driving towards images of themselves; and series of photographs of a caged bird, fishing nets, and frost on an aeroplane window as a thread of captured nature; and a series of postcards inscribed with “we don’t move on” for the visitor to take away create a cultural microcosm of where real experience and cultural imagination are recurrently intertwined.
